Grads Get Out in Georgia Dome

U.S. Secretary of Energy Samuel Bodman told 2,400 graduates at Georgia Tech's 221st commencement ceremony that ensuring secure and affordable energy supplies, in a way that protects the environment, is one of the most serious challenges facing every nation on Earth.

"Georgia Tech already leads the way in many important areas of research that are addressing some of our most critical issues — including our energy problems," Bodman said. "Energy is the lifeblood of our economy and our modern way of life."

The ceremony, traditionally held at Alexander Memorial Coliseum, was moved to the Georgia Dome to accommodate the large number of graduates and still be able to have a single ceremony for graduates and undergraduates.

Bodman concluded his address with advice given to him on his graduation day.

"Work hard, but save some time for some fun, because before you know it, you will be standing in my place," he said.
