Everyone is familiar with the Yellow Pages directory. The Georgia Tech Alumni Association is taking that concept, giving it a golden luster and making it available online to Yellow Jackets as the Georgia Tech Gold Pages.
The idea for a Web-based listing that connects alumni by geographic, business or industry services came from an Alumni Association trustee committee represented by Mack Reese, IM 83, MS Mgt 85, and Daren Pietsch, ME 91. It has the potential to connect alumni worldwide.
Through the Gold Pages, alumni can locate other Tech graduates when searching for a new service or vendor or when entering a new geographic market, Reese and Pietsch explained.
The annual fee for the online listing is $500. Companies with logos and advertising copy will appear in a searchable online database, Reese said.
"The practical benefits of the service are extraordinary — whether you're looking for a civil engineer in Dubai or a financial planner locally, participants stand to benefit through the common Georgia Tech bond," Pietsch said. "Additionally, the financial benefits to our Alumni Association will provide unprecedented residual income."
Pietsch added, "The Gold Pages have the potential to become a very powerful business tool as we sign up companies throughout Atlanta, the United States and countries all over the globe."
The Gold Pages have an expanded reach because they dovetail with the Tech 100 Business Club, which sells business card-type ads that appear in the Georgia Tech Alumni Magazine and Tech Topics and also are listed in the online directory. Alumni can place ad listings in the Tech 100 Business Club for a $1,000 annual fee.
"Both the Tech 100 Club and Georgia Tech Gold Pages will enable potential customers of business partners to connect with businesses run by Georgia Tech alumni," Pietsch said. "They are designed to be complementary — especially in the Atlanta market."
