Futurist Aids Strategic Planners
James Canton
As part of President G. P. "Bud" Peterson's goal to develop a strategic plan for the Institute's next 25 years, Tech invited futurist James Canton to address the campus community.
Canton, CEO of the Institute of Global Futures, spoke at the Ferst Center on Oct. 20. He listed overpopulation as the key issue facing humanity and said technology has the potential to solve many problems related to the rapid growth of third world countries.
"We live at the edge of a variety of revolutions," Canton said. "The fantastic renaissance [in technology] is emerging. It offers opportunities and risks."
A video of Canton's presentation is available at the Strategic Vision Web site.
