Previous Tours 2022-2025
1st Tour: 2022
President Cabrera kicked off his very first President’s Summer Tour with visits to seven cities: Athens, Augusta, Cartersville, Dalton, Gainesville, Lake Oconee, and the Battery at Truist Park. He especially enjoyed riding in the Ramblin’ Wreck as driver Evelyn Edwards courageously paraded Tech’s mascot through Athens, past “that other school.”
2nd Tour: 2023
On his second and most mileage-packed tour to date, President Cabrera traveled 300 more miles than his first Summer Tour, and visited Brunswick, Columbus, Macon, Newnan, Savannah, and Valdosta. During the road trip, he visited Gulfstream Aerospace Corporation; Savannah’s Great Dane, one of the world’s largest semi-trailer manufacturers; and Georgia’s biggest alligator farm, which is run by alumnus Mark Glass, Mgt 89.
3rd Tour: 2024
In 2024, the President’s Summer Tour expanded into Tennessee and was one of the most buzz-creating tours. While President Cabrera visited Carrollton, Chattanooga, Douglasville, Gainesville, Johns Creek, LaGrange, and Rome, his visits to the Kia Georgia Manufacturing Plant and Buc-cee's left alumni buzzing.
4th Tour: 2025
During the most recent Summer Tour, President Cabrera began his trip in Florida with stops in Ponte Vedra and Jacksonville and traveled 775 miles, with events in Augusta, Covington, and Savannah. He harvested oysters at the Tybee Oyster Company—Georgia’s first floating oyster farm, run by an alumni couple—and explored some of the most forward‑looking innovations at Hyundai Motor Group’s Metaplant and Georgia Power’s Vogtle facility.
