Philanthropy for Life

Established in 1986, the Georgia Tech Student Foundation (GTSF) has awarded more than $1.33 million to over 738 student-led organizations and initiatives. Current participating student leaders of this Alumni Association student organization vet applications from student organizations to determine how approximately $50,000 in funds are allocated each semester, manage the investments of an over $2.6 million endowment, and raise awareness that one hundred percent of student gifts to Roll Call are used to support student organizations as allocated by GTSF. The Musician’s Network at Georgia Tech purchased new audio system equipment to improve the quality of their weekly events and to train Georgia Tech students on a standardized, reliable system.

Engineers in Action at Georgia Tech

GT Fusion Engineering

GT Fusion Engineering used their allocation to give students hands-on experience with fusion and plasma-based technology by building a terrella plasma trap and a mounted dipole superconducting plasma trap on campus.

Meet the Board

History of the Georgia Tech Student Foundation

 J. Erskine Love Jr., ME 49, came to Tech at the age of 16 from South Carolina. While at Tech he immersed himself into campus life by pledging Delta Tau Delta, serving as President of the Ramblin’ Reck Club, a member of ANAK and ODK, and as editor of the Blueprint and Technique. He started the company Printpack at age 27 with one machine, which grew to one of the largest packing converters in the world. As an active alumnus, Love served as a trustee and president of the Georgia Tech Foundation and a trustee of the Alumni Association. He spearheaded Tech's historic $100 million Centennial Campaign, alongside Georgia Tech President Joseph M. Pettit. 

In 1986, J. Erskine Love Jr., established an endowment through Georgia Tech with a generous grant of $100,000. The funds were unrestricted as long as the money was managed exclusively by students and the Georgia Tech Student Foundation was originated. The endowment has grown to approximately $2 million, as the investments committee continues to outperform the S&P500 by 6%.

Support Student Organizations by Giving To Roll Call

One hundred percent of student gifts to Roll Call are used to support student organizations, allocated by the Georgia Tech Student Foundation (GTSF) which provides funding for initiatives and programs championed by students.
