The 2026 Georgia Tech Spring Commencement ceremonies honored 3,128 bachelor’s graduates, 3,775 master’s graduates, and 226 PhD graduates.
Father & Daughter Become Double Jackets on Same Day
Among these graduates were father and daughter duo Sherman, Mgt 90, MBA 26, and Shaina Lofton, Arch 24, MS Arch 26, who each graduated with their master’s degree.
When Sherman arrived on campus in 1984, he never thought that decades later he would be graduating with a master’s from Tech on the exact same day as his fourth and youngest daughter.
“It’s surreal, emotional, and exciting,” Shaina says.
“It’s fulfilling,” Sherman adds.
It’s one of many examples of generations of Tech pride that exist in Yellow Jacket families.

More than 500 Tech families, 534 to be exact, have more than one member who has earned multiple Tech degrees.
- 493 families (92.3%) have two alumni who earned multiple Tech degrees.
- 38 families (7.1%) have three alumni who earned multiple Tech degrees.
- 2 families (0.4%) have five alumni who earned multiple Tech degrees.
- 1 family (0.2%) has four alumni who earned multiple Tech degrees.

6,835 alumni parents have one or more children who graduated from Tech.
- 4,495 parents (65.8%) have one child who graduated from Tech.

- 378 parents (5.5%) have three children who graduated from Tech.
- 52 parents (0.8%) have four children who graduated from Tech.
- 20 parents (0.3%) have five children who graduated from Tech.

86 Yellow Jacket grandparents have one or more grandchildren who graduated from Tech.
