For four summers—with a fifth on the way—President Ángel Cabrera, MS Psy 93, PhD Psy 95, has traveled throughout Georgia and beyond, meeting Yellow Jackets where they are.

The President’s Summer Tour has become part road trip, part reunion, and completely full of Cabrera’s approachable and energetic personality.

Since 2022, the tour has covered 24 cities, 21 counties, and three states. Along the way, Cabrera has turned this annual road trip into memorable Georgia Tech moments: stopping at Buc‑ee’s; harvesting oysters with alumni-run Tybee Oyster Company, which is Georgia’s first floating oyster farm; holding a baby alligator at an alumnus’s farm in Camilla; and touring Gulfstream Aerospace, one of the world’s top business jet manufacturers.

Cabrera also observed the auto-making process at the Kia Georgia facility in West Point and visited the cleanrooms at Absolics Inc., a leading semiconductor company that produces the world’s first glass substrate critical for building high-performance supercomputers.

In just four years, Cabrera has traveled a total of 2,715 miles. He visited:

  • 7 cities, covering 550 miles in 2022
  • 6 cities, covering 850 miles in 2023
  • 7 cities, covering 540 miles in 2024
  • 4 cities, covering 775 miles in 2025

Collectively, those stops included more than 1,400 community members, who have shared a story about Tech’s influence on their life, sung the Fight Song, and learned about the Institute’s expanding impact.

As the 2026 President’s Summer Tour approaches, its popularity is clear. The map keeps expanding, the crowds keep growing, and President Cabrera keeps proving that Georgia Tech’s reach extends as far as the people who carry its spirit.
