Alumni Events Strengthen the Georgia Tech Network

More than 8,200 individuals attended Georgia Tech alumni events in fiscal year 2025. When Yellow Jackets connect, knowledge is shared, bonds are strengthened, and opportunities take shape.
One such opportunity emerged through a chance encounter between alumnus Aayush Dubey, MS CS 21, and Tanisha Gupta, a second-year Computer Science major.
An Alumni Event Leads to an Internship
What began as a casual Georgia Tech Home for the Holidays gathering in San Francisco became a meaningful professional relationship.
“Within the last hour, I met a Tech student. We shared similar experiences during our Georgia Tech programs. Eventually, I brought up my role as a founding engineer at a data-for-robotics startup called DataraAI,” says Dubey.
Gupta expressed interest in the company, and a week later, Dubey hired her as an intern.
Hiring Hard-Working Yellow Jackets
Though she was on holiday break, Gupta worked extremely hard. “She took on our product very well and was able to get a small yet significant deliverable up and running,” Dubey says. “She even worked on the holidays, even though she didn’t have to.”
When her holiday break ended, Gupta headed back to campus to continue her studies, but Dubey offered her the chance to work with his team again in the future.
When Yellow Jackets Come Together, Ideas Turn Into Innovation
Stories like Dubey and Gupta’s are not isolated. Across the country, Yellow Jackets continue to create meaningful connections through alumni gatherings and regional events.
Earlier this year, Yellow Jackets in Washington, D.C., Seattle, San Francisco, and New York City met up for a casual night out for Social in the City. Some played table tennis, others enjoyed mini golf, and some cruised along the Hudson River—all while strengthening their ties to one another and to Tech.
A Powerful Alumni Network
“When Georgia Tech people come together, ideas turn into innovation,” Dubey says. “What starts as a conversation of a dynamic group of individuals with shared passions soon turns into a plan of action for a greater cause. Even when we’re far from the Atlanta campus, that common experience resonates within us. We’re not just exchanging ideas; we’re moving things forward together."
It’s this spirit that makes Georgia Tech’s alumni network one of the strongest in the nation. The Princeton Review ranks it the No. 4 Best Alumni Network among public colleges.
